The envelope, in numbers, and where it ends.

What fits on our machines, the tolerances we hold as a matter of routine, and the work we deliberately send elsewhere. If your part sits near an edge, send the drawing and we'll tell you straight.

Machine envelopes, drawn to one scale.

Plan view at 1:20. The largest single part we can cut, bend, mill or turn, before fixturing, finishing tanks and the forklift have their say.

Capability matrix

Typical tolerances are what we hold without special process. Tighter features are possible. They're priced and inspected as such once we've seen the drawing.

Equipment list

A compact, deliberately balanced shop: enough cutting capacity to feed the brake, the welders and the mill without parts waiting on the floor.

This is a concept business. The equipment list illustrates a plausible job-shop and is not a claim about any real workshop.

  1. L1

6 kW fibre laser, 3015 bed

Nitrogen and oxygen assist, automatic nozzle change, shuttle table.

  2. P1

    135 t CNC press brake, 3.1 m

Back gauge on four axes, segmented punches for boxes up to 150 mm deep.

  3. M1

    3-axis vertical machining centre

    BT40, 10,000 rpm, 24-tool carousel, 4th-axis rotary table.

  4. T1

2-axis CNC lathe with bar feeder

Ø65 bar capacity, tailstock, live-tooling not fitted.

  5. W1–3

    Three welding bays

Two pulsed MIG sets, one AC/DC TIG set, fixture table and fume extraction.

  6. Q1

    Inspection bench

Granite surface plate, height gauge, bore gauges, micrometers, thread gauges.

What we don't do.

Saying no early saves everyone a week. These go to specialists. We're happy to point you to one or manage the subcontract if it's part of a larger job.

Outside our envelopeWhat we suggest
Structural steel over 6 m, site erectionA structural fabricator with erection crews.
Engineering design sign-offWe build to your engineer's drawing; we don't certify designs.
Castings and forgingsWe machine supplied castings once a first-off is approved.
Heat treatment, anodising, platingSubcontracted with the process noted on the quote.
5-axis simultaneous machiningWe'll quote 3+1 indexed work or refer it on.

Near the edge of the envelope?

Send the drawing anyway. We'll tell you what fits, what needs a fixture and what we'd send out.
