A small workshop with a long attention span.

Oak & Ember is a design-and-build joinery studio in Penrith, making kitchens, wardrobes and bathrooms for homes across the region.

Why the name

Oak for the material we come back to most: patient, honest and better with age. Ember for the warmth a good room holds at the end of the day: the low light, the last conversation in the kitchen.

We started from a simple frustration: too many renovations are sold on a render and priced on a guess. We would rather measure properly, show you options honestly, and write everything down before anyone talks about money.

This is a fictional business created for a SEVNworks concept website. There are no real staff, licences, awards or reviews to show, and we have not invented any. A real business would list its licence and insurance details here.

The kind of workshop we have in mind: one long bench, good light, everything made and finished before it reaches the house.

Three things we hold ourselves to

Keep what works

Moving plumbing and walls is expensive and rarely necessary. We look for the version of your room that keeps its good bones and spends money where you will feel it.

Unknowns stay unknown

If we have not measured it, we do not pretend we have. Every brief lists what is confirmed, what is assumed and what still needs checking — in plain language.

Made to be repaired

Solid carcasses, replaceable hinges and runners, finishes that can be re-oiled. Joinery should outlast a fashion, and be fixable when life happens to it.

Where we work

Penrith and surrounds, from the river flats to the lower Blue Mountains. Further afield for the right project.
